HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET 1 | Down 10-7, the Sharks strung together three points in a row to knot the game and a block by
Amanda Pultorak and
Denvyr Tyler-Palmer gave the Sharks its first lead, 11-10. The two teams stayed within two points of each other until at 17-17, the Tars used an 8-3 run to grab the first set, 25-20.
SET 2 | Similar to the first set, the start of the second was very tight, but it was the Sharks that held the lead throughout the beginning. Tied at 15-15, Rollins utilized a five-point run to grab a 20-15 advantage. NSU responded with a 5-1 run of their own to come within one, 21-20, and forcing Rollins to call for a timeout. Three kills by Rollins' Bri Civiero put the Tars in set-winning position at 24-21, but kills by Tyler-Palmer and one by Rivera brought the game to a tie again, 24-24. An error by the Sharks gave Rollins the advantage, 25-24, but a kill by Tyler-Palmer and Pultorak put NSU back in the lead, 26-25. Back-to-back kills weren't enough, however, as the Tars were able to tally three consecutive points for a 28-26 win.
SET 3 | As if it were a trend, the beginning of the third set was a close affair. Tied at 13-13, the Sharks used three consecutive points to take a 16-13 lead before the Tars responded with a 7-1 run to earn a 20-17 edge. A kill by Pultorak brought the deficit to two points, 20-18, but Rollins expanded its advantage to four points, 22-18, forcing the Sharks to call timeout. NSU was able to come within three, 23-20, utilizing an error by Rollins, but a kill by Civiero put the Tars in game-winning position, 24-20.
