Box Score ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Despite outhitting the Tritons .218 to .200, the Nova Southeastern volleyball team fell in straight sets to host Eckerd College on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET 1 | The Sharks were hot in the beginning of the set, grabbing as much as a 7-2 advantage before the Tritons started the chip away at that lead, eventually knotting the game at 10-10. The two teams were back and forth until NSU used a 4-2 run to go ahead, 23-20. The Tritons put up four straight points to steal back the lead, 24-23, forcing NSU to call for a timeout. The Sharks knotted the game once more with a kill by
Denvyr Tyler-Palmer but kills by EC's Mackenzie Redner and Abbie O'Ferrell gave Eckerd the 26-24 extra-point win.
SET 2 | The two teams stayed within three points of each other until the Tritons grabbed a four-point advantage at 20-16, forcing a Sharks timeout. NSU was able to come within two, 21-19, but EC was able to keep pulling away, taking another four-point lead at 24-20. A kill and a block by
Maddie Uilk once again brought NSU within two, 24-22, but the Tritons sealed the victory with a kill by Redner, 25-22.
SET 3 | Down 17-12, the Sharks rallied to knot the game 19-19, before using a kill by
Samantha Blasko to take its first lead of the set. A kill by Tyler-Palmer put the Sharks within one point of winning, 24-23, but akill by O'Ferrell tied the game once again, 24-24. Similar to the first set, the Tritons were able to put up back-to-back points when it counted for the 26-24 win and overall 3-0 victory.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Tyler-Palmer led the Sharks offensively with 14 kills to go along with eight digs.
- Kaelyn Brock was just one kill away from notching a double-double, recording nine kills and 14 digs.
- Samantha Blasko tallied 28 assists while Megan Burns picked up 19 digs.
- The Sharks once again out-blocked their opponent, seven total to five.
- Despite the outcome, the Sharks out-hit the Tritons .218 to .200.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Eckerd completed the season sweep of the Sharks, earning their first win on Sept. 29.
- Maddie Uilk registered two solo blocks, a season-high.
