FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Luicelena Perez continued to dominate in singles, while
Nastassia Rubel and
Simone Pratt remain undefeated in doubles as the Nova Southeastern Women's Tennis team (5-8, 2-4 SSC) suffered their fourth straight loss falling to Florida Southern (11-5, 5-2 SSC), by a score of 6-3 on Sunday at the NSU Tennis Complex.
"Despite the outcome, I am proud of our girls for fighting until the end," head coach
Doug Neagle said. "We had four of the six singles matches go into a third set. It shows the girls have the integrity to keep playing no matter how the rest of the match is going. LP just continues to play well and it was good to see Simone back on the court."
The Sharks took the early lead after taking two of the three doubles matches. Rubel and Prat struck first with an 8-3 win over Linnea Skymberg and Natalija Popovic at No. 2 improving their record to 11-0 on the season. Shortly after, No. 23 Perez and
Isabella Lowrey snapped a two-match skid defeating Sasha Nionova and Selin Devrimci, 8-4. The Moccasins avoided the sweep picking an 8-4 win at No. 3.
Florida Southern tied the match 2-2 after a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles. The Sharks regained the lead after ninth-ranked Perez defeated No. 32 Sasha Nionova in the top flight, 6-1, 7

1. With the win, Perez has defeated four straight nationally-ranked opponents. The Moccasins would eventually rally and secure the win claiming all four three-set victories at No. 2, 3, 4 and 6.
The Sharks will return to action on Wednesday, Apr. 5 to face Palm Beach Atlantic in West Palm Beach, Fla. at 4:00 p.m.
