Sharks Grab 3-1 Win Over FIT

NSU currently on a four-game win streak.

Box Score MELBOURNE, Fla. – Sharks continue their win streak on Saturday, picking up a 3-1 win over host Florida Tech. Despite an almost two-week break, the Sharks show their strength, finishing their weekend with back-to-back wins.  
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
SET 1 | Down 14-11, the Sharks rallied to knot the score, 15-15 capped with a kill by Denvyr Tyler-Palmer. With the Panthers ahead, 22-21 a kill and an ace by Samantha Blasko gave the Sharks a 23-22 lead, giving NSU the momentum to take the first set, 25-23.
 
SET 2 | Despite the Panthers holding the lead throughout most of the set, the Sharks were able to rally late, tying the set 21-21, but it wasn't enough as the Panthers used a 4-1 run to take set two, 25-22.
 
SET 3 | Much like the first two sets, the Sharks rallied from behind to gain the lead in the third set. At 18-18, a kill by Nicole Rivera gave the Sharks the lead, one they would not relinquish. The Sharks used an ace by Kim Blasko, a Tyler-Palmer kill and an error by the Panthers to take the set, 25-21.
 
SET 4 | At 14-13, the Panthers used a 4-0 run to take a 17-14 lead, only for the Sharks to respond with a five-point run of their own to take back the lead, 19-17. FIT took the lead 21-20 with a kill by Heather Bowersox, but NSU was able to take the lead, utilizing an error by FIT and a kill by Maddie Uilk, ultimately taking the win, 25-22.
 
 
INSIDE THE STATS:
  • Tyler-Palmer led all players with 28 kills, while also hitting a game-high .333.
  • Megan Burns also posted a game-high 25 digs.
  • Tyler-Palmer posted her third-consecutive double-double with 17 digs.
 
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • Burns' 25 digs puts her third all-time in Shark history for career digs.
  • Tyler-Palmer's double-double this game marks her 25th in her career.
  • With the win, the Sharks tie the overall series 25-25.
