BOCA RATON, Fla. – Finishing the season series against the Lynn Fighting Knights on the road, the Nova Southeastern volleyball team fell in straight sets on Tuesday evening in the de Hoernle Sports & Cultural Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET 1 | Down 10-7, a kill by
Leslie Atherton sparked a 3-0 run by the Shark to knot the game and force the Fighting Knights to use their first timeout. Returning to the floor after their timeout, Lynn quickly used a 6-1 run to regain their lead at 16-11. After a kill by
Denvyr Tyler-Palmer and an error by LU brought the deficit to three, 16-13, Lynn took off on a 6-0 run to take a commanding 22-13 advantage. The Sharks weren't able to recover as the home team went on to take the set 25-16.
SET 2 | An early 7-2 run by the Knights quickly put NSU in a hole, but the Sharks were able to dig themselves out, coming within two at 13-11 with a block by
Maddie Uilk and Atherton and a Lynn hitting error. Another multiple-point run by the Knights put the Sharks behind at 20-12, and once again NSU was unable to overcome the deficit as Lynn took a 2-0 overall lead with a 25-17 set two win.
SET 3 | Trailing by one at 5-4, the Sharks used an error by the Knights, an ace by Burns and a kill by
Maya Patterson to steal the lead at 7-5. Nova Southeastern and Lynn stayed within two points of each other before at 14-13 in NSU's favor, LU put up seven unanswered points for a 20-14 lead. A block by Atherton and
Kim Blasko, along with an error by the Knights, brought the Sharks within three at 21-18, but a rally wasn't in the cards for NSU as Lynn went on to grab the overall victory with a 25-20 win.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Tyler-Palmer led the Sharks with her nine digs, while Patterson added six. Patterson also had seven digs.
- Uilk tallied five kills while Atherton had three. They each added three blocks each.
- Samantha Blasko registered 13 assists and Caylee Cox had 11. Both setters also picked up 10 digs.
- Megan Burns collected a team-high 15 digs to go along with two service aces.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- With her two aces, Burns has recorded a total of 149 over the course of her career, just two short of tying the record of aces during NSU's NCAA era.
- Tonight's loss puts the overall record between the Sharks and the Fighting Knights at 19-26 in favor of Lynn.

The Sharks will finish out their 2018 home schedule this weekend starting with Florida Southern on Friday, Nov. 2 with first serve set for 7:00 p.m.
