FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Kicking off competition in 2019, the Nova Southeastern men's and women's swimming teams started on a hot note, topping the Carson Newman Eagles on Saturday afternoon at the NSU Aquatic Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
TOP INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS:
- Emma Sundstedt earned the first individual win of the day in the 200 freestyle in 1:57.31. She also landed on top in the 500 freestyle with her time of 5:10.27.
- Dawson took the win on the men's side with his top-time of 1:42.02, while also winning the 100 freestyle in 46.68.
- In the women's 50 backstroke, Johns topped the competition in 26.67. She also recorded the top time in the 50 butterfly in 25.97.
- Poulsen finished in first in the men's 50 back in 23.56.
- Caily Friel earned the win in the 50 breaststroke in 30.87 while Klemm completed the sweep with a win in 26.36 on the men's side. Klemm also won the men's 50 fly in 24.09.
- Caroline Oster emerged victorious in the 200 butterfly in 2:07.90 while Matteo Masiero won in 1:52.67. Oster also went on to pick up the win in the 100 free in 53.29.
- Yanello posted a 21.42 in the men's 50 free, good enough for first place.
- In the women's 200 backstroke, Hannah Kota placed first in 2:10.08, while in the 200 breaststroke, Elizabeth Zubero won in 2:23.49. Zubero also went on to register the top time in the 100 IM in 59.34.
- Vincent Lijoi topped the competition in the 500 freestyle, posting a time of 4:42.58.
UP NEXT
The Sharks will return to Sunshine State Conference competition next Saturday as they host Florida Southern in a dual meet starting at 1:00 p.m.
