Women's Tennis Signs Mid-Year Transfers Pei and Snita for 2019-20

The Sharks add a pair of Sun Belt All-Conference players for January

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – After wrapping up a very successful Fall for the Sharks, Nova Southeastern women's tennis looks to build on the momentum of one of the best seasons in program history. The Sharks will get there with the help of a pair of new faces, as fourth-year head coach Doug Neagle has announced the signing of transfers TingTing Pei and Karolina Snita to join the program in January for the 2019-20 season.

"I am really excited about bringing in two DI transfers that both have a lot of college, ITF and WTA Pro Tour experience," Neagle said. "Last year we had our program's best year ever, and are coming off a Fall season filled with some great team and individual accomplishments. Adding TingTing and Karolina can really help us continue to meet our goals and hopefully help get us to another level. I enjoyed talking with both of these young ladies and they seem like great people too. Of course we want talent, but having good people is more important."

Coming to the Sharks as a sophomore from NCAA Division I Troy, Pei will reunite with former teammate Celia Montero Estevan – who delivered quite an impact for NSU in the Fall competitions. A native of Kumming, China, Pei was 9-7 in doubles play in the first two flights at Troy. For her efforts, she and partner Matea Mihaljevic garnered second-team All-Sun Belt Conference honors in doubles during her rookie campaign.

Pei went 14-17 in singles for the Trojans, playing largely at No. 2 singles. Pei won seven of her final nine Sun Belt outings, and also picked up Fall victories last year over Florida, Ole Miss, and East Tennessee State.

Pei reached as high as No. 899 on the WTA Pro Tour.

Also coming aboard from the Sun Belt via Louisiana Monroe, Snita will be a redshirt junior in January. Hailing from Glogow, Poland, Snita has a 10.02 Universal Tennis Rating and ranked as high as 1248 in the WTA Pro Tour rankings. Snita earned National Championships in Poland for doubles in the Under 18 and Under 21 Divisions.

Snita earned second-team All-SBC honors in both singles and doubles during the 2017-18 season, as well as Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) honorable mention, finishing 17-5 as a singles player. In doubles with partner Stefana Andrei at the No. 1 position, she earned a 14-9 doubles record. Snita clinched the final point over South Alabama in a 3-hour, 34-minute singles match to lock up the Sun Belt Conference Championship for the Warhawks during her rookie season.

The Sharks are scheduled to kick off their 2020 season on Feb. 1 at home against Flagler College.
