FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Coming up on the finale of one of its most successful seasons in recent years, the Nova Southeastern volleyball team has been ranked 10th in the South Region in the Nov. 20 NCAA DII Regional Rankings.
The Sharks, who currently hold an 18-11 overall record and 10-8 record in Sunshine State Conference play earn their first regional nod since Nov. 4, 2009, when the team was also named to the No. 10 spot. Prior to that, the last time the Sharks received a regional ranking was in 2009 when the team finished 19-11 and advanced to the NCAA South Region tournament.
"We are so grateful to the regional ranking committee for recognizing our hard work and great season so far," said head coach
Brian Rosen. "Our team is battling every day in our gym and in this incredibly tough conference. We know we have accomplished so much this season, and to have it recognized nationally is a great honor."
Currently ranked sixth in the SSC, the Sharks will finish up league play this upcoming weekend against Embry-Riddle and Florida Tech. The Sharks fell to the Eagles in a five-set thriller back on Oct. 26 and will look to split the series on the road this Friday, Nov. 22 before closing out the regular season against the Panthers on Saturday, who they defeated topped in straight sets earlier this season.
"We are not done yet, and hope that another successful weekend against two more great teams will break us into the final eight for the NCAA South Region," voiced Rosen. "Having already defeated five other regionally ranked opponents, I know the Sharks want to keep this season and momentum going."
