DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Opening their final regular season weekend, the Nova Southeastern volleyball team ran away with a three-set win over the Embry-Riddle Eagles on Friday evening in the ICI Center on their Senior Night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET 1 | Leading by one point after a service ace by
Emily Sippel, the Eagles used a 3-0 run to push their lead to 13-9 and force the Sharks to use their first timeout. Embry-Riddle was able to hold onto their lead throughout the majority of the first set until at game point, 24-21, the Sharks comeback started. A kill by
Brittany Landrum sparked a 6-0 run by NSU, giving NSU the come-from-behind set one win, 26-24.
SET 2 | At 8-6 in favor of ERAU, a 5-0 run capped with a with a kill by
Madison Cook gave the Sharks an 11-8 lead as the Eagles called their first timeout. Embry-Riddle managed to tie the set once more at 12-12, but that would be the last time they were close as a 5-1 run by the Sharks pushed them ahead and for good. Nova Southeastern's largest lead of the set came at 22-16 thanks to a kill by Sippel and after a 6-2 run by ERAU, a kill by
Ally Ford closed the set with NSU on top 25-22.
SET 3 | It was all Embry-Riddle in the beginning parts of the third set, as the Eagles went up 10-4 before the Sharks started to chip away at their lead. At 15-12, an ERAU service error gave NSU all the momentum they needed, as the Sharks took off on a 9-1 run to take the lead, 21-16. A 3-0 run in by the Eagles were their last points of the game, as a 4-0 run capped with a kill by
Gabby Bauch gave NSU the 25-19 win and overall 3-0 victory.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Three Sharks tallied double-digit kills in the win, with Ford leading the way with 13. She also added 11 digs to make it a double-double and three aces and three blocks.
- Alex Boone was next with 12 kills, committing zero errors in 25 attempts, while adding four blocks.
- Landrum recorded 11 kills and four blocks, one solo, while Sippel had six kills and eight digs.
- Caylee Cox added 22 assists and 15 digs and Cook tallied 17 assists with seven digs.
- Aleyna Kennel picked up 14 digs and Emily Krachenfels handed out two aces.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- With the win, the Sharks move to 19-11, their most wins since 2015.
- Ford's double-double was her ninth of the season.
- With the win, the overall series moves to 18-13 in favor of NSU.
UP NEXT
NSU will close out their regular season tomorrow afternoon, travelling to Melbourne to take on Florida Tech at 4:00 p.m.
