FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – After four inning of scoreless play, the bats were swinging in the final three innings as the Embry-Riddle Eagles took down the Nova Southeastern softball team, 5-2, on Friday evening at the AD Griffin Sports Complex

HOW IT HAPPENED:
BOTTOM 5TH | After four scoreless innings of play,
Lexie Storrer sent her first collegiate homer over the left-center fence to put the Sharks on the board. The next batter,
Keeley Mayers, sent a double to the same spot, and after a sacrifice bunt by
Kayla Kight moved her to third,
Tia Williams brought her home on a sacrifice fly to left, giving NSU a 2-0 edge.
TOP 6TH | The Eagles were able to knot things up the next half inning as
Suka Van Gurp's throw to the plate was just a second to slow to catch Maggie Scott and an RBI-single by pinch hitter Meritxell Blesa made it 2-2.
TOP 7TH | Embry-Riddle took advantage of a Shark error and an RBI-double in the top of the seventh, tallying the final two runs of the game for a 5-2 lead and eventual winning tally.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Storrer finished 2-for-3 with a base knock in addition to her homer, while she took the loss in the circle, going the distance and allowing five runs (4 ER) on eight hits with three strikeouts.
- Mayers was 1-for-2 and scored once while Aubry Hernandez, Sydney Lageyre and Tia Williams all finished 1-for-3.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Not only was Storrer's homer the first of the season, but it was the first of her collegiate career.
- Tonight's loss brings the overall series with the Eagles to 7-3 in favor of Embry-Riddle.
UP NEXT
The Sharks will continue the three game series against the Eagles tomorrow afternoon with a doubleheader starting at 12:00 noon.
