FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Celebrating its three seniors (
Kayla Kight,
Keeley Mayers and
Suka Van Gurp) the Nova Southeastern softball team split a pair of games on Friday afternoon to earn the series win over the Rollins Tars, 2-1. Rollins earned a 2-1 win in the first game before the Sharks rallied back to win game two, 1-0, posting their second shutout of the series.

TOP 4TH | With pinch runner Brycyn Smith on second and Abbie Sexton on first, back-to-back Shark throwing errors during the next at bat allowed both base runners to score for a 2-0 Rollins advantage.
BOTTOM 6TH | The Sharks hinted at a comeback in the bottom of the sixth, as they cut the Tars' lead to just one run with an RBI-single by
Alex Suzuki, bringing home
Suka Van Gurp, who led off with a triple during the at bat prior.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
BOTTOM 3RD | With two outs on the board, Williams drew a walk and was brought home by the next batter, Van Gurp, who doubled through the left side to make it a 1-0 Shark lead. This was also the lone score of the game.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- NSU tallied three hits in the game, as Van Gurp collected two hits in her three at-bats.
- Storrer was 1-for-3 and Suzuki drew two walks.
- Schmoll earned the victory after tossing the full game, allowing no runs on five hits with two strikeouts.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- This was Schmoll's ninth shutout of the season, her second this series.
- With the doubleheader split, the overall series moves to 36-14 in favor of the Tars.
UP NEXT
The Sharks will wrap up its 2019 regular season next weekend as they travel to West Palm Beach, Fla. to take on the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish in a three game series beginning on Friday, April 26 with a single game at 6:00 p.m.
