Women's Cross Country Second, Men Fourth in Strong FLRunners 20 Showing

The women collected scores of 68 to the men's 102 in a strong finish in Lakeland

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women's cross country team finished second as a squad, while the men were fourth overall in Friday evening's competition at the flrunners.com Invitational 20 at Lakeland's Holloway Park. For the fourth time in as many races, junior Michelle Bauer and freshman Trey May topped their respective Shark squads.

WOMEN'S RESULTS: 
Logging a team-leading time of 20:08.5 in the women's 5k, Bauer earned her third top-10 finish of the 2019 season, coming down the chute in eighth to lead the Sharks. Within striking distance, sophomore Carli Etrick was 12th at 20:30.8, just ahead of freshman Isabella Aristizibal in 15th with a season-best 20:56.7. Rookies Leah Marville (21:19.3) and Lauren Breski (22:12.6) closed out the scoring pack at 21st and 26th, respectively.
 
The Sharks women logged 68 total points for finish second among eight scored teams, defeating Sunshine State Conference units from Saint Leo and Lynn.

MEN'S RESULTS:  
Producing a season-best 27:45.7 in the 8k, May produced his best final placement of his rookie campaign, coming in fifth overall to lead all Shark finishes on the day. Coming in at 28:20.9, freshman Inigo Cillero followed in 15th, edging out senior Joel Lacy in 16th at 28:22.3. Sophomore Quynlan Duffy (29:49.2) was next in 38th and sophomore Cormac Gilmore (30:16.6) rounded out the scorers in 46th.
 
The men's team was fourth overall with 102 points out of nine total scoring teams, defeating SSC opposition from Florida Southern and Lynn.
 
UP NEXT:  
The Sharks have earned another break in the schedule, but the next one on the slate is a big one, as NSU travels to Tallahassee for cross-divisional competition on Oct. 11 at the FSU Invitational.
