FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern volleyball squad earned its first Sunshine State Conference win of the season in dominating fashion on Friday evening in the Rick Case Arena, taking three-straight sets from the Rollins Tars.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET 1 | Tied at 4-4, a kill by
Alex Boone started a 4-1 run by the Sharks to give the home team a three-point advantage at 8-5. Still up by three at 10-7, the Sharks allowed the Tars to tally four-straight points to steal the lead at 11-10. A kill by
Sami Spadaro and back-to-back kills by
Ally Ford put the Sharks back on top at 13-11. After five ties and three lead changes, the Sharks were able to string together four-straight points to go out in front, 21-18. The Tars managed to steal two more points from the Sharks before a kill by
Emily Sippel closed out the set with NSU on top. 25-20.
SET 2 | Up by two at 11-9, a kill by Alex Boon ignited an 8-1 run by the Sharks to give NSU their largest lead of the set at 19-10. The Tars responded with a 7-2 run of their own to come within four at 21-17, before a kill by
Brittany Landrum and an ace by Sippel brought NSU two points from a set two win. After a pair of points by Rollins, another kill by Landrum and a bad set by the Tars' setter pushed the Sharks to victory and an overall 2-0 edge.
SET 3 | The Sharks saw the Tars lead throughout the early stages of the set, before a service error by Rollins gave NSU the opportunity to take off and steal the lead, which they in fact did. A 13-2 run, capped with a kill by Ford not only gave the Sharks an overwhelming 19-9 lead, but forced the Tars to use both of their timeouts. Once again, the Tars started to crawl back, coming within four at 22-18, but the Sharks quickly halted their comeback, taking advantage of back-to-back Rollins errors before a kill by
McKenna Tucek ended the match, giving NSU the 3-0 win.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Ford tallied 15 kills on the night, hitting .522 after making three mistake in 23 attempts. She also added four aces, four blocks and 13 digs.
- Freshman middle Landrum recorded eight kills in her 10 attempts, hitting .800 after not making one hitting error. She also added a team-high five blocks.
- Boone was also unstoppable in the middle, tallying six kills while also putting up two blocks.
- Aleyna Kennel pick up 11 digs and dished out two aces.
- Madison Cook led the game with 24 assists, adding four digs. Caylee Cox logged 12 assists with five digs.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- This was Ford's fifth double-double of the season.
- Cook's 24 assists marked her seventh 20+ assist game of the season.
- Tonight's win brings the overall series to 25-17 in favor of the Tars.

The Sharks will hit the road next Friday, Oct. 4, traveling to Tampa, Fla. to take on the No. 22 Tampa Spartans at 7:00 p.m.
