FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Wrapping up the regular season on a beautiful Saturday morning at the NSU Aquatic Center, the Nova Southeastern men's and women's swim teams earned two wins over the Keiser Seahawks. Prior to the meet, the Sharks honored their 10 seniors -

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The women's 200 medley team comprised of Cassandra Wright, Caily Friel, Sasha Maslova and Hannah Trieschmann started the meet with a win in 1:45.45. The men's team of Aleksei Averchenko, Alessandro Xella, Magnus Poulsen and Jonathan Yanello also won the event with their time of 1:32.50.
- Finishing the meet on a high note, the women's 200 freestyle relay team (Wright, Friel, Trieschmann, Jenna Johns) and the men's 200 freestyle relay (Dawson, Poulsen, Averchenko, Yanello) both notched wins with their times of 1:37.91 and 1:23.89, respectively.
TOP INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS:
- Hannah Pariseault grabbed the first individual win for NSU in the 1000 freestyle, winning in 10:40.21. Caleb Fell went on to win the men's side in 9:35.54.
- In the 200 freestyle, Vincent Lijoi topped the competition in 1:42.74.
- Wright earned the win in the 100 backstroke, posting an NCAA B-Cut time of 56.48. Averchenko completed the event sweep with a winning time of 50.78. Wright also went on to win the 200 backstroke in 2:03.89.
- In the women's 100 breaststroke, Friel won in 1:05.11.
- The Sharks won both sides of the 200 butterfly, as Maslova won in 2:06.14 and Matteo Masiero won in 1:52.47. Maslova also won the 200 breaststroke in 2:20.86 and the 100 butterfly in 55.85. Masiero also earned the win in the 100 fly in 49.45.
- In the 50 free, Alec Dawson recorded a winning time of 21.20.
- Johns notched a win in the 100 freestyle in 52.28 and Averchenko won the event in 46.41.
- In the men's 200 backstroke, Xella recorded a winning time of 1:53.33. He also won the 200 IM in 1:56.22.
- Samuel Brettmann finished first in the men's 200 breaststroke in 2:07.58.
- In the 500 freestyle, Emma Sundstedt and Lijoi won in 5:14.16 and 4:40.26, respectively.
- In the women's 200 IM, Elizabeth Zubero won in 2:09.23.
UP NEXT:
The Sharks will begin preparations for postseason, starting on Thursday, Feb. 13 at the 2020 Sunshine State Conference Championship in Clearwater, Fla.
