WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to the Rollins Tars on Saturday afternoon. Despite comebacks in both games, the Tars topped the Sharks 4-3 in game one and 3-2 in extra innings in game two to complete the series sweep.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP (GAME ONE):

HOW IT HAPPENED:
BOTTOM 1ST | With runners on first and second and no outs, Rollins' Chelsea Peace used an RBI-double to score leadoff batter Ashley Troutman for a 1-0 lead. After the next batter was hit by a pitch, Tyler Jo Colby grounded out into a double play, but still allowed enough time for a runner to score to make it a 2-0 game.
BOTTOM 3RD | The Tars extended their lead to 3-0 in the third, tallying a run off an RBI-single by Lindsay Gehring.
TOP 5TH | The Sharks made it on the board in the fifth inning as
Anina Fernandez recorded her second solo home run of the season, bringing the score to 3-1.
TOP 7TH | A double to left by
Sydney Lageyre scored
Alexis Smith to make it a one-run game, and three batters later, an error by the Tars' third baseman allowed
Sam Sisco to plate and tie things up.
BOTTOM 7TH | The Tars earned the walkoff win with two outs on the board as Peace doubled to centerfield.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- The Sharks were held without a hit until the fifth inning, where they tallied four.
- Sam Sisco finished 2-for-4 with one run scored.
- Fernandez, Janowiak, Smith and Lageyre were all 1-for-3, while Tia William was 1-for-4.
- Savannah Foster was saddled with the loss, pitching 6.2 innings and allowing four runs (3 ER) on six hits with four strikeouts.

BOTTOM 1ST | The Tars scored their first two runs of the game in the first inning, as a Gehring homered, bringing home Peace along for the ride.
TOP 2ND | The Sharks made it a one-run ball game in the second as a fielder's choice drawn by
Alexis Smith allowed pinch runner
Ryleigh Langwell to score.
TOP 7TH | After four scoreless innings, the Sharks took advantage of an RBI-single by Fernandez to tie the game.
BOTTOM 8TH | The Tars earned their second walk-off win of the night after Tentoffio singled to center, bringing home Smith for the 3-2 win.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- The Sharks out-hit the Tars, tallying seven hits to their six.
- Both Sisco and Ferenandez notched two hits, finishing 2-for-4.
- Emily Hess (4-3) took the loss, allowing three runs on six hits with four strikeouts.
