Grace Gilmore and
McKenah Peters combined to score 34-points to lead the Sharks Women's Basketball team to a 67-58 upset victory over #18 Tampa on Saturday afternoon from the Bob Martinez Athletics Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

ST QUARTER – After starting the game down 7-0, scored 9-of-11 points for the Sharks to put the score at 15-11 with 3:41 left in the first quarter. Patricia "Pistol" Brinson closed the frame with a fastbreak lay-up, as NSU trailed 22-17 after the first ten minutes of action.

ND QUARTER – Brinson converted an and-one to begin the second quarter, bringing the Sharks within two, 22-20. A'Lexus Bryant scored back-to-back buckets to give NSU its first lead of the contest at 25-24 midway through the second quarter. Two consecutive three-pointers from Grant and
Grace Gilmore put the Sharks ahead 34-31 with less than two minutes remaining in the half. NSU went into the halftime break leading 36-33.

RD QUARTER – Seven consecutive points from Gilmore to begin the second half, including a three-point bucket, put NSU in front 43-35. The 18
th ranked Spartans trimmed the Sharks advantage to 47-42, when Gilmore's second three-point make of the quarter pushed the lead to 50-42.
Madeline Hardy extended the Sharks advantage to double-digits, 53-42, from the free throw line in the final minute of the third quarter.

TH QUARTER – Tampa scored the first five points of the final quarter, but a lay-up from Grant halted the Spartans momentum as the Sharks looked to finish the upset. Peters put NSU in front 62-51 with two free throws. Nova Southeastern sealed the upset victory over the Spartans from the free throw line, as NSU knocked off top-seed Tampa 67-58.
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- The Sharks forced six turnovers on the game and outscored the Spartans 16-4.
- NSU's bench was the difference in the game, finishing the contest with a 21-4 margin in bench points. Kyarrah Grant led the way with 10 points on 4-8 shooting.
