HOW IT HAPPENED
Nova Southeastern's offense got off to a great start, as six consecutive Sharks reached base leading to four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Duncan Pastore got NSU going by working a walk, and NSU quickly loaded the bases following a single from Adam Frank and a walk by Adan Fernandez. The Sharks tied the game after Michael Avendano was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and Rivera capped the inning with a two-run single to left.
Lynn added a pair of runs in the top of the third, cutting the Sharks lead to 4-3. NSU extended its lead in the bottom of the fifth, as Rivera plated all three with his second home run of the season, putting the Sharks ahead 7-3.
Stephen Schissler relieved Matt Kavanaugh in the top of the sixth. LU trimmed the deficit, once again, putting the score at 7-5. The Knights grabbed the lead in the seventh, scoring three runs, two on an RBI single, to lead 8-7.
NSU emphatically responded, plating seven runs in the bottom half of the inning, to take a commanding 14-8 lead over the Knights late. Alex Hernandez drove in a pair with an RBI single, giving Nova Southeastern a 9-8 advantage. Later in the inning, back-to-back hits from Pastore and Frank put the Sharks ahead 11-8. Irisarri capped off the inning with a double, driving in Avendano. Hernandez added his fifth home run of the season in the eighth, and Ryan Bradarich recorded the final seven outs, as NSU took the series win, 15-8 over Lynn.
