FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern Sharks outlasted the Lynn Fighting Knights in a five-set thriller on Saturday afternoon from the Rick Case Arena. NSU dropped the first-set but responded by winning 3-of-4 sets to clinch their first Sunshine State Conference win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In the early stages of the first-set, back-to-back kills from Kate Mihacevich and Jordan Chessar tied the score at 6-6.

Lynn took a 17-10 lead before closing out the set, as the Sharks dropped the set 18-25.

NSU responded to falling in the first set by opening the second with a 6-2 lead, receiving points from Brittany Landrum, Jordan Chessar, and Michacevich.

Lynn bounced back to take a 15-14 lead, but the Sharks responded with a 5-0 run, capped off by a Chessar kill to lead 19-15.

Landrum started and finished the set, recording the first and final points, tying the match at 1-1.

NSU continued its momentum from the second set by getting out to a 3-1 lead, following kills from Landrum and Madison Cook.

Elizabeth Price started a 4-0 run for the Sharks, putting NSU ahead 12-7.

Two consecutive errors by the Knights pushed Nova Southeastern ahead 17-11.

Mihacevich closed the set with another kill, putting the Sharks ahead 2-1 in the match, with a 25-20 set win.

Avery Piatt gave NSU a 7-6 lead following a service ace, but the Knights rallied for five straight points to take a 11-7 advantage.

NSU was unable to reclaim the advantage, as the Knights forced a decisive fifth set.

The Sharks battled through the Knights advances, finishing off the fifth set win following two consecutive errors, as NSU took the win 15-12.
