TAMPA, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Sharks Volleyball team advanced to the second round of the NCAA South Region Tournament by way of defeating the third-seeded Embry-Riddle Eagles in four-sets on Thursday afternoon on the campus of the University of Tampa.
On Friday evening, NSU will take on the second-seeded Lynn Fighting Knights, looking to reach the South Region Finals for the first time since 2008.
HOW THEY GOT HERE
#6 Nova Southeastern (20-10)
The Sharks earned their first NCAA South Region Tournament win since the 2021 season by defeating Embry-Riddle in four-sets to begin the 2023 tournament.
Nadia Lindner paced the Sharks offensive attack, tallying her seventh game with at least 20 kills on the season.
Madison Cook tallied 53 assists, while both
Brittany Landrum (11 kills/four blocks) and
Olivia Aniol (10 kills/six blocks) provided a steady presence on the offensive and defensive side.
#2 Lynn (25-7)
The Fighting Knights, riding a nine-match winning streak, defeated the seventh-seeded West Florida Argonauts in four-sets. As a team, Lynn hit 0.281 and recorded 55 kills. Dayana Chara tallied 14 kills, while Kenidy Howard added six blocks.
PREVIOUS MATCHUPS
Nova Southeastern was defeated in both Sunshine State Conference matchups to Lynn, dropping the SSC opener at the Rick Case Arena in five-sets and the second matchup in four-sets in mid-November.
Nadia Lindner, against her former team, tallied 36 kills in both matches, while Brittant Landrum (23 kills) and
Taylor Stockman (21) each performed well.
