INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The D2CCA announced the 2025 All-South Region teams on Tuesday afternoon, and four Sharks received distinguishing honors.
Sofia Suarez,
Genesis Hernandez and
Kajsa Lang were named to the All-South Region First Team, and
Alexa Bereczki was named to the Second Team.
Suarez adds to her impressive resume, as the senior was already named the SSC Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-SSC earlier this month by the league office. The senior scored the lone goal in NSU's 1-0 victory over Montevallo in the NCAA Second Round. That goal gave her 13 on the season to go along with five assists and 31 points.
Hernandez, who is tied Suarez with 13 goals so far this season, adds this honor to go with her First Team All-SSC and All-Tournament Team selections. The sophomore scored a goal in regulation of the SSC Championship against Florida Tech, and also has six assists and 32 points on the year.
Lang, the third Shark named to the First Team, was named SSC Defensive Player of the Year earlier this month and was also a First Team All-SSC selection. The graduate student has totaled 1,747 minutes and has been an anchor for the Sharks' stingy defense.
Bereczki was named to the All-South Region Second Team and has had a strong postseason as well. The sophomore recorded two goals and an assist in the SSC quarterfinals against Barry, and then scored the game-winning penalty kick to defeat Florida Tech in the SSC Championship. For her efforts, Bereczki was named the Tournament's Most Outstanding Player and to the All-Tournament Team. She had also been named Second Team All-SSC earlier that week.
The Sharks are preparing for a rematch with Florida Tech, as they'll host the NCAA Third Round this coming Sunday, November 30. The winner advances to the NCAA Quarterfinals. To stay up-to-date on Sharks Soccer, follow on Instagram and Twitter/X at NSU_WSoccer.
