Sharks wrap up series with Mocs

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern Sharks concluded the Sunshine State Conference series against the Florida Southern Moccasins by dropping both games of the doubleheader on Saturday at the NSU Baseball Complex. NSU lost game two of the series 7-5 and dropped the series finale 8-2.

How it Happened
  • Florida Southern plated a pair of runs in the opening inning, taking a 2-0 lead. 
  • Xavier Moronta hit his fifth home run of the season in the bottom half of the first innings. 
  • NSU tied the game in the fourth inning, as Roylan Quevedo scored on a wild pitch. 
  • Florida Southern broke the tie in the top of the seventh inning, scoring three runs.
  • The Sharks played two runs in the bottom half of the eighth inning, as Jack Cue drove in Moronta and later in the inning, Anthony Stinson scored on a double play. 
  • FSC plated another pair of runs in the top of the ninth inning, extending their lead to 7-4. 
  • JC Hernandez scored on a wild pitch in the ninth inning, but NSU was unable to complete the comeback, losing 7-5 and snapping their nine-game winning streak. 
How it Happened 
  • The Mocs scored two runs in the opening inning. 
  • Justin Wachs got NSU on the scoreboard with a groundout, putting the score at 2-1 in the bottom of the second inning. 
  • Florida Southern plated four runs in the eighth inning, extending their lead to 6-1. 
  • Zeth Rodriguez drove in Boris Pena with an RBI single, cutting the deficit to 6-2. 
  • FSC scored two more runs in the top of the ninth, winning the game 8-2, and the Sunshine State Conference series.
