FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Fall 2025 semester was a record-breaking one for the Nova Southeastern Athletic Department, as it posted the highest overall departmental grade point average to date with a 3.52 GPA. The 3.52 mark was just above the previous high of 3.51, set in Fall 2022 and tied in the Fall 2024 semester. The Fall 2025 semester marked the 31st consecutive semester with a 3.0 departmental GPA or better for the Athletic Department.
"We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes for earning the highest departmental GPA in program history this fall," Manager of Athletic Academic Services Dr. Deanna Rivero said. "Their academic success mirrors the discipline and commitment they demonstrate in competition. This achievement is a testament to their hard work, the support of our coaches, and the resources provided by our academic services team."
Eighty-seven percent of Shark student-athletes posted a 3.0 GPA or better, while 45 student-athletes had a perfect 4.0. One hundred and twenty student-athletes had a 3.80 or better, the highest number to date, which garnered distinction on the Director's List. Two hundred and forty-three student-athletes were named Scholar Athletes with a 3.25 or better, which is also the highest number to date.
The Women's Volleyball (3.75), Women's Cross Country (3.74) and Women's Soccer (3.71) teams posted the top team GPAs, with Women's Volleyball and Women's Soccer posting their highest fall semester team GPA to date. Men's Basketball (3.42), Men's Cross Country (3.69), Women's Cross Country (3.74), Men's Swimming (3.59) and Men's Track and Field (3.68) posted the highest overall team GPAs in program history to date.
"Our student-athletes have once again raised the bar for academics and set a new standard for success," Interim Director of Athletics Ryan Romero said. "We are incredibly proud of their commitment and their hard work, and we are grateful for the leadership and dedication of Dr. Deanna Rivero and her team."
With the fall semester behind them, the Athletic Department will look to carry this momentum into 2026, as the spring semester and competitions commence.
