ORLANDO, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference has released its 2026 Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll on Thursday afternoon. Nova Southeastern University was selected to finish fifth in the standings with 47 points.
NSU volleyball enters its first season with
Matt Geer at the helm of the Sharks after going 18-11 last season with Geer an assistant role. The Sharks recorded an 11-9 mark in SSC play.
NSU returns a variety of starters from last season including
Brooke Spurgeon,
Caiden Largent, and
Erika Spankus while introducing nine new student-athletes to the squad in a mix of transfers and freshman.
The Sharks slot into the preseason coaches' poll behind Lynn, Palm Beach Atlantic, Barry and perennial favorite Tampa which collected all but one first place vote in the poll.
NSU begins its season on August 28 at the NSU Shark Invite against Middle Georgia at 2 p.m. and opens SSC play on the road on Sept. 18 against Florida Tech at 7 p.m. The Sharks host their first home conference game against rival Barry on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 4 p.m.
Below is the full listing and rankings of the 2026 SSC Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll. First place votes are listed in parentheses. Member institutions could not vote for themselves and ranked the remaining members one through ten. Teams earning a first-place vote earned one point, two for a second-place pick and so on to ten points for a tenth-place selection.
