AUSTIN, Tx. – The Nova Southeastern Women's Soccer team broke through late in the second half as Genesis Hernandez scored the match's lone goal in the 78th minute, lifting the Sharks to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over St. Edward's.

• Nova Southeastern controlled much of the opening half, generating 12 shots and earning seven corner kicks, but St. Edward's goalkeeper Daria Schlumbohm kept the Sharks off the scoreboard with five first-half saves.
• The Sharks continued to press after halftime, creating several dangerous chances, including a team save by St. Edward's in the 57th minute that preserved the deadlock.
• Nova Southeastern finally broke through in the 78th minute when
Genesis Hernandez finished a setup from
Maria Jansen, giving the Sharks a 1-0 advantage with just over 12 minutes remaining.
• The NSU defense held firm over the final minutes, securing the shutout as
Ewa Sikora finished with three saves and recorded her second clean sheet of the season.
The Sharks will be back in action as they open Sunshine State Conference play against reigning national champion Florida Tech in Melbourne, Fla., on Sept. 12. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
