FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Women's Soccer team opened Sunshine State Conference play in dominant fashion, defeating Lynn University 5-0 on Wednesday evening at Amerant Bank Field at NSU Soccer Stadium. Five different Sharks contributed to the scoring effort as the Sharks controlled play from start to finish.

• Nova Southeastern struck first in the fifth minute when
Valeria Vasquez Hernandez finished a scoring opportunity off an assist from
Alexa Bereczki, giving the Sharks an early 1-0 advantage.
• Coming out of halftime, Nova Southeastern doubled its lead in the 55th minute as
Genesis Hernandez found the back of the net to make it 2-0.
• Just under two minutes later, Hernandez turned provider, setting up
Maria Jansen for a goal in the 57th minute as the Sharks extended their lead to 3-0.
• Nova Southeastern continued its offensive surge in the 67th minute when
Haley Mettrick scored off another assist from Hernandez, pushing the advantage to 4-0.
• The Sharks capped the scoring in the 88th minute when
Kamryn Pry converted on a chance created by goalkeeper
Gretchen Duttenhofer, who recorded the assist on the fifth and final goal of the evening.

The Sharks will be back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 22, as they continue Sunshine State Conference play against the Barry Buccaneers. The contest will be played at Miami Dade College in Miami, Fla., with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
