FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The #NSU50 "Top Moments in NSU Athletics History" continues with the sixth moment on the list: Nova adds men's golf, women's tennis and baseball.
August, 1987
Nova made the move in the fall of 1987, bringing the total of sports to eight, with five men's teams and three women's teams. The athletic department was expanding at a time when they were finding repeated success. The Knights had their first All-American in men's soccer (Dag Cohen) the year prior. That same fall, the volleyball team would win its third straight District 25 Championship.
Baseball, men's golf and tennis would make a huge impact on the University. Rich Polumbo, just four years into the program's existence, would be the first All-American out of the group. Eventually, the three programs would combine to win NSU 10 conference championships.
