FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (Nov. 1, 2008) - With Sunshine State Conference Men's Soccer Championship seeding on the line, Nova Southeastern University's men's soccer team was unable to hold off No. 2 Lynn (15-1-0, 7-1-0 SSC) as the Sharks lost 3-2 at the NSU Soccer Complex. NSU (10-8-1, 3-5-1 SSC) will now enter the conference tournament as the sixth seed. Lynn, who will host the semifinals and finals, locked up the first seed with its 10-0 win over Florida Southern on Wednesday.

The Sharks jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 34th minute. Aly Hassan (So., Davie, Fla.) drew a foul that set up a free-kick for Romain Onteniente (Jr., Nice, France) from 25 yards out. Onteniente's blast went straight the lower right corner as NSU ultimately used the goal to take a one-goal lead into halftime.

In the second half, Hassan found the back of the net in order to put the Sharks up 2-0 at the 47:06 mark. However, just 38 seconds later, an own goal by NSU allowed Lynn to score and make it a one-goal game.

The Fighting Knights scored the game-tying goal in the 53rd minute. After a shot by Lee Porter ricocheted off the crossbar, Nano Short collected the rebound and shot the ball in to the net.

Lynn eventually tallied what would prove to be the game-winner in the 63rd minute with a Kyle Conrad goal.

The Fighting Knights outshot NSU 17-11, had a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks and committed more fouls (19-14). Meanwhile, the Sharks made 10 saves as Lynn only had two.

Juan Vizcarrando (So., Weston, Fla.) made all 10 NSU's saves.

Adam Alcock had both of Lynn's stops.

NSU will travel to third-seeded Saint Leo on Tuesday for the SSC Men's Soccer Championship quarterfinals. Game time is set for 7 p.m. from University Field. The winner of the NSU-Saint Leo game will advance to the semifinals and face second-seed Tampa at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 7 at Lynn.
