Mobile, Ala. (Sept. 13, 2009) - The Nova Southeastern University women's soccer team posted a 2-0 shutout over Spring Hill on Sunday afternoon at Library Field. With the win, the Sharks improve to 3-1-0 on the season. Spring Hill falls to 2-3-0.
The game got underway after nearly a 40-minute delay. NSU struck first with an Elizabeth Brauher (Sr., Hilo, Hawaii) goal in the 19th minute. Aubrey Fondy (Fr., Arvada, Colo.) crossed the ball over to Brauher, who tapped the ball over Spring Hill goalkeeper Emma Pitchford.
In the second half, the Sharks added another goal. Danielle Granholm (Fr., Broomfield, Colo.) took a pass from Alexis Hernandez (Jr., Miami, Fla.) and blasted the ball from just outside the six-year box and into the goal in the 73rd minute.
The Sharks outshot Spring Hill 12-6. Both teams registered three corner kicks and had eight fouls. Sarah Glass (R-Jr., Melbourne, Fla.) made three saves.
NSU is back in action when it hosts Palm Beach Atlantic in what will be the Sharks' 2009 home-opener. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. from the NSU Soccer Complex.
