FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Jan. 23, 2010) - Despite career showings by Tara Haddock (Sr., Citrus Springs, Fla.) and Stevie Kamp (So., Mesa, Ariz.), Nova Southeastern University women's basketball team could not hold off a Florida Tech rally and lost 66-63 in overtime on Saturday afternoon at The Arena at the Don Taft University Center.

"Tara played exceptionally well in all aspects of the game," said head coach Marilyn Rule. "Stevie also played hard on both ends of the court. I am pleased with our team's effort and energy, but we have to learn to execute for the entire game. We'll bounce back and get back to work on our execution."

Haddock had the best performance so far in her career on Saturday, setting career-highs for points (20), rebounds (6) and blocks (3). Additionally, she hit six three-pointers, becoming just the third player in NSU history to hit a program record six three-pointers. Meghanne Hickey and Heidi Turczynski are the other two players in history that have made six three-pointers in a game.

Meanwhile, Kamp tied her career-high points (16) and was just one rebound shy of tying her career mark.

NSU (9-9 overall, 2-5 Sunshine State Conference) controlled the game for most of the first half. The Sharks led by as many as 11 in the opening 20 minutes. Meloney Fosburgh (So., Phoenix, Ariz.) made a layup at 7:51 to give the Sharks a 19-8 advantage. Florida Tech (9-9, 1-6 SSC) ultimately pulled to within three with an Ashton McClairen three-pointer making it 23-20 in favor of NSU with 4:07 left in the half. However, NSU outscored the Panthers 9-5 in the last four minutes of the half en route to taking a 32-25 lead into the break.

In the second half, NSU saw its lead disappear as the Panthers opened the half with a 12-2 run. Florida Tech went up 38-34 on a Lindsay Greene jumper at 15:37. The Sharks started to fight back and eventually built up an eight-point cushion as Kamp sank a free throw at 5:45 to make it 54-46.

However, the Panthers outscored NSU 9-1 for the rest of the second half. Sharnae Ivery hit a game-tying jumper with 25 seconds left and sent the game into overtime.

Although NSU got overtime started with a pair of free throws from Fosburgh, Florida Tech used a six-point run to take a 61-57 lead. A layup by Kamp and a jumper by LaShawnna Edwards (Sr., Miami, Fla.) tied the game at 61-61 with 2:01 left. The Panthers quickly scored five points to go up 66-61, but Priscilla Perez (Jr., Miami, Fla.) made it a three-point game by hitting both free throws with 37 seconds left. After a missed opportunity by Florida Tech, NSU had one last chance, but saw a three-point shot hit the rim with one second left.

NSU shot 29 percent (18-for-62), while Florida Tech was 37.7 percent (26-for-69). The Panthers also held a 49-44 advantage in rebounds.

Haddock's 20 points were the highest of the game. Kamp had her fifth double-double of the season, tallying 16 points and 13 rebounds. Fosburgh chipped in with 10 points.

Lynisha Nelson led Florida Tech with 17 points. Kristen Dixon has a team-high 10 rebounds.

NSU returns to action on Wednesday when the Sharks host Florida Southern. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., from The Arena at the Don Taft University Center.
