Melbourne, Fla. (Feb. 20, 2010) - No. 23 Nova Southeastern University women's tennis team lost at No. 25 Florida Tech 6-3 on Saturday afternoon.
The Sharks took two of the three doubles matches. Karolina Porizkova (Sr., Prostejov, Czech Republic) and Elisa Leeder (Sr., Eisenhuettenstadt, Germany) topped Katarina Hub and Stephanie Dohner 8-5 at No. 2 doubles. In the No. 3 slot, Mary Crider (Sr., Georgetown, Texas) and Paige Lindsley (Jr., Albuquerque, N.M.) downed Monica Prince and Abbey Keister 8-6. Florida Tech's Natalia Ramos and Abigail Greif took No. 1 doubles by defeating Justine Feaster (So., Escondido, Calif.) and Daria Egorova (Jr., Obninsle, Russia) 8-4.
Crider had the Sharks' lone win in singles play. She beat Dohner 6-2, 7-5 in the No. 5 slot. Ramos defeated Egorova 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Huba won 7-5, 6-2 over Porizkova in the No. 2 slot. At No. 3 singles, Andrea Madrigal defeated Leeder 5-7, 6-0, 6-2. Greif defeated Feaster 6-1, 7-6 at No. 4 singles, while Price won over Lindsley 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 6 position.
NSU returns to the courts next Saturday when the Sharks travel to Florida Southern. Match time is scheduled for 10 a.m.
