Winter Park, Fla. (Mar. 28, 2010) - No. 24 Nova Southeastern University women's tennis fell 8-1 to 10th-ranked Rollins on Sunday. With the loss, the Sharks fall to 6-9 overall and 3-3 in the Sunshine State Conference. Rollins improves to 13-5 overall and 4-2 in the conference.
Paige Lindsley (Jr., Albuquerque, N.M.) had the Sharks' only point of the day. Lindsley rallied for a three-set victory at No. 5 singles against Kayli Ragsdale, winning 1-6, 7-5, 10-2.
In doubles play, Margaret Junker and Ragsdale defeated Justine Feaster (So., Escondido, Calif.) and Karolina Porizkova (Sr., Prostejov, Czech Republic) 8-2 in the No. 1 spot. Roshi Luthra and Allie Steele won over Blake Bauer (Fr., Miami, Fla.) and Elisa Leeder (Sr., Eisenhuettenstadt, Germany) 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 doubles, Holly Fleming and Stefania Tkach defeated Mary Crider (Sr., Georgetown, Texas) and Lindsley 8-5.
In singles competition, Luthra, who is ranked 21st-nationally, defeated Porizkova 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 1 slot. Fleming had a 6-0, 6-1 win over Leeder at No. 2 singles, while Tkach defeated Feaster 6-4, 4-6, 10-3 at No. 3 singles. Junker won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4 singles over Crider and Clarke Tatje had a 6-4, 6-1 win over Federica Longo (Fr., Buenos Aires, Argentina) in the No. 6 spot.
NSU returns to action on Saturday when the Sharks travel to No. 2 Lynn. Match time is scheduled for 10 a.m.
