Boca Raton, Fla. (Apr. 3, 2010) - No. 27 Nova Southeastern University women's tennis team fell 8-0 at No. 2 Lynn on Saturday at the Perper Tennis Complex.
In doubles play, Katerina Jiskrova and Magdalena Ekert, who are ranked fifth nationally, defeated Justine Feaster (So., Escondido, Calif.) and Karolina Porizkova (Sr., Prostejov, Czech Republic 8-0 in the No. 1 slot. Tessie Salame and Jessica Yanoff also had an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles over Mary Crider (Sr., Georgetown, Texas) and Blake Bauer (Fr., Miami, Fla.)
During singles play, the Sharks faced two nationally-ranked players. At the No. 1 spot, No. 16 Ekert defeated Porizkova 6-3, 6-2. No. 18 Elenora Iannozzi swept Feaster 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Salame won out against Crider at No. 3 singles with scores of 6-2, 7-6 (9-7). Yanoff defeated Bauer 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 singles, while Christine Johnstone had a 6-4, 6-3 win over Federica Longo at No. 5 singles.
NSU played the match without a full team, resulting in No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles not being played.
NSU returns to action on Wednesday when the Sharks travel to No. 4 Barry. Match time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
