NSU Soccer Alumnus Aly Hassan Debuts for Hungarian Professional Team

Hassan Played in the Entire Second Half in a Friendly for Ferencvaros

SUBOTICA, Serbia – Former Nova Southeastern University forward Aly Hassan made his debut Wednesday for Ferencvaros, a professional team out of Budapest, Hungary. His squad took down FK Spartak Zlatibor in a friendly on the road in Subotica, Serbia, 1-0.

It’s been a great experience so far,” said Hassan. “We will see what the future holds for me but to be put in this situation is a blessing.”

The game story, despite being in Hungarian, features a photo gallery with shots of Hassan’s debut (click HERE).

After finishing as one of the best strikers in NSU history, Hassan has moved on to play for one of Hungary’s most popular teams in the country’s top league. After flying in from South Florida just two days prior, Hassan played in the entire second half for Ferencvaros and helped his team secure the shutout victory.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Aly to realize his dream of playing professional soccer and of living abroad," said NSU head men’s soccer coach Giuseppe DePalo. "I feel that NSU has prepared him well for this experience. It’s not an easy transition to go from college soccer to a first division European club, but he is coping well.

Hassan is currently on a two week trial in Budapest and is seeking a contract to compete on one of Hungary’s premier teams.

“I am positive he will represent us with class,” said DePalo. “We are all extremely proud of him."
