FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women’s basketball team (7-3) will make its only trip out of the Sunshine State Friday evening, heading to Georgia to take on Valdosta State (7-2). The Sharks will be looking to avenge a season-opening loss to the Blazers back on Nov. 11 at the NSU Arena in the Don Taft University Center.

Each team has been on an extended break from the hardwood. NSU last took the court Dec. 13, a 69-54 victory over No. 24 Shaw at home. The Blazers picked up back-to-back wins at home Dec. 15-16, downing Columbus State and Coastal Georgia as part of the Days INNvitational.

Danielle Robinson (Fr., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), who netted 18 points in the first meeting against VSU, continues to pace the Sharks in scoring with 13.8 points per game. Meixandra Porter (Jr., Chantilly, Va.) is right on her heels, averaging 13 ppg to go with a team-high 4.7 assists per contest.

Jasmine Wilkins (So., Miami, Fla.) is dominating the glass for NSU, snaring 7.1 rebounds per game, while chipping in 9.2 points.

The Blazers also have a pair of players averaging double figures this season. Brittany Ferguson is scoring at a 16.3 ppg clip, while Sczeny Hartry is recording 12.6 ppg. In the season-opener, Ferguson tallied 13 points and Hartry notched a team-leading 14 against the Sharks.

Friday’s matchup will be the final out-of-conference game for the Sharks this season, as SSC play will continue Jan. 4 when Florida Tech visits NSU Arena. The Sharks are currently 0-2 through its first two conference games and will be looking to head into thick of their tough SSC schedule on a winning note.
