MATCH RESULTS
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – After winning its season opener on Saturday, the Nova Southeastern University womens tennis team (2-0) continued its good form against Northwood today, defeating the Seahawks, 8-1, in its home opener at the NSU Tennis Complex.
“The team continued their strong play today,” head coach Michael Coleman said after the win today. “It was good to see them play well on our home court.”
NSU continued its dominance in doubles action today, maintaining their perfect record on the year. The Sharks were led in doubles action by
Paige Lindsley (Fr., Albuquerque, N.M.) and
Austin Lavallii (So., Williamston, Mich.), who recorded their second straight shutout in doubles action, winning in the No. 3 slot, 8-0.
The freshman duo of
Daria Burobina (Moscow, Russia) and
Kamryn Blackwood (Farmington, N.M.) maintained their undefeated streak by winning in the No. 2 spot, 8-4. The No. 1 slotted team of
Dominique Wimmer (Jr., Guntramsdorf, Austria) and
Justine Feaster (Jr., Carrollton, Texas) beat Northwood’s Fiorella Moggia and Andrea Sucre, 8-2.
In singles play, Wimmer, Lavallii and Blackwood each captured their first singles wins as Sharks, tallying a victory in their matches in straight sets. Lindsley and
Blake Bauer (So., Miami, Fla.) also maintained their unbeaten singles streaks on the year, both winning 6-0, 6-1 in the four and five spot.
The Sharks take the court next on Saturday, February 19 against Saint Leo to open up Sunshine State Conference play at 1 p.m. in Saint Leo, Fla.
