MATCH RESULTS
TAMPA, Fla. – Concluding its two match conference road stretch, the No. 31 Nova Southeastern University tennis team defeated the No. 41 Tampa Spartans, 7-2, on Sunday, Feb. 20 at the University of Tampa Tennis Complex.
“We played well,” head coach Michael Coleman said, “This was a good win for our team.”
NSU improved its doubles record to 11-1 after winning two of three matches on Sunday. Senior
Paige Lindsley (Albuquerque, N.M.) and
Austin Lavallii (So., Williamston, Mich.) remain undefeated after winning their match, 8-2, in the No. 3 spot.
Justine Feaster (Jr., Carrollton, Texas) and
Kamryn Blackwood (Fr., Farmington, N.M.) won their second straight doubles match as a team by defeating Mancini and Caropino, 8-3, in the No. 2 slot.
In singles action, junior
Dominique Wimmer (Guntramsdorf, Austria) captured her third straight win in singles play defeating Hewett in a tiebreaker match, 6-4, 2-6, 10-4.
Daria Burobina (Fr., Moscow, Russia) earned her first victory in the No. 3 spot with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Mancini. Lindsley and
Oksana Krutiyenko (Sr., Nova Kahovka, Ukraine) each won their matches in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0.
Blake Bauer (So., Miami, Fla.) rounded out the Sharks’ victory by defeating Caropino, 6-0, 6-1, to remain undefeated in singles play for the spring season.
The Spartans’ Hewett and Raymond won their doubles match over Wimmer and Krutiyenko, 8-2. Raymond also earned a singles win against Lavallii, 6-3, 6-4, on Sunday.
NSU takes two weeks off before welcoming California University (Pa.) to the NSU Tennis Complex on Saturday, March 5 at noon.
