Lindsley and Lavallii Bounce Back to Capture Their 10th Win in Doubles

MATCH RESULTS

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.
– The No. 22 Nova Southeastern University women’s tennis team (7-5, 2-1) fell in a conference match to No. 12 Florida Southern (9-2, 3-2), 7-2, on Saturday, March 19 at the NSU Tennis Complex.

Paige Lindsley (Sr., Albuquerque, N.M.) and Austin Lavallii (So., Williamston, Mich.) bounced back Saturday to earn their 10th win as team in doubles play. The duo defeated Laura Wichmann and Crystal Copeland in No. 3 doubles. Lindsley and Lavallii own a 11-1 record as a team this season.

Dominique Wimmer (Jr., Guntramsdorf, Austria) and Oksana Krutiyenko (Sr., Novo Kahovka, Ukraine) struggled to find rhythm from the start of their match, eventually falling, 8-3, in the No. 1 slot. The international duo of Daria Burobina (Fr., Moscow, Russia) and Federica Longo (So., Buenos Aires, Argentina) kept their match close, but lost momentum in the final games to fall, 8-5, in No. 2 doubles.

The Sharks headed into singles play in a hole for the fifth time this season. Before going into this match NSU owned a, 1-3, record when trailing after doubles play.

Blake Bauer (So., Miami, Fla.) won her singles match against Crystal Copeland, 6-2, 7-6 (3), holding off a charge in the second set in No. 6 singles. Bauer collected her 10th win of the season in singles play. She owns a 10-2 overall record this season.

Lindsley battled in her first set of singles play, taking Joalis Dominguez to an extra game, but was unable to prevail, falling, 7-5, in the first set. Lindsley could not recover after the hard fought first set, eventually losing in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3 in the No. 4 slot.

Wimmer, Burobina, Krutiyenko, and Longo all lost their singles matches in straight sets.

The Sharks return home to face Division I Towson on Monday, March 21 at the NSU Tennis Complex at 1 p.m.
