Women’s Tennis Looks to Continue its Winning Streak at Home

Sharks Square off Against the No. 8 UCP and Pitt this Weekend

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.— The Nova Southeastern University women’s tennis team will host weekend matches against No. 8 California University of Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh at the NSU Tennis Complex on Saturday, March 5 at 12 p.m. and Sunday, March 6 at 10 a.m.

NSU improved its doubles record to 11-1 after winning two of three doubles matches against the Tampa Spartans on Sunday, Feb. 20. Senior Paige Lindsley (Albuquerque, N.M.) and Austin Lavallii (So., Williamston, Mich.) remain undefeated after winning their match, 8-2, in the No. 3 spot against the Spartans.

Also against Tampa, Lindsley won her singles match in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0, which improves her record to 4-0. Junior Dominique Wimmer (Guntramsdorf, Austria) won in a tie-breaking match earning her third straight win in singles play this season, 6-4, 2-6, and 10-4.

California University of Pennsylvania competes out of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. They are 4-3 on the road this season while most recently falling to No. 3 Lynn University on March 3 at the Perper Tennis Complex, 9-0. The Saturday match between the Sharks and the Vulcans will be the teams’ first meeting on the court.

Pittsburgh comes to NSU with a 3-4 overall record this season with every match being on the road. Pitt competes out of the NCAA Division I BIG EAST Conference. The Sharks have played the Panthers well in previous years having captured a perfect 3-0 all-time record. The Sharks defeated the Panthers in their last meeting, 6-3, at the NSU Tennis Complex on March 10, 2009.
