FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 20 Nova Southeastern University women’s tennis team (9-9, 4-3 SSC) meets the No. 11 Florida Southern Moccasins (15-4, 5-3 SSC) in Altamonte Springs, Fla. for the quarterfinals of the Sunshine State Conference Tournament on Thursday, April 14 at 9 a.m.

The Sharks have been led in doubles play by duo Austin Lavallii (So., Williamston, Mich.) and Paige Lindsley (Sr., Albuquerque, N.M.). The team has compiled a 13-3 overall record in the No. 3 spot over the course of the 2011 season. The two were followed by the international duo of Daria Burobina (Fr., Moscow, Russia) and Federica Longo (So., Buenos Aires, Argentina) who went 5-3 as a team in the No. 2 spot.

In singles, Blake Bauer (So., Miami, Fla.) tallied an 11-6 overall record while going 4-3 in the league. Bauer played most of her matches in the No. 6 spot where she earned a 10-3 record. Dominique Wimmer (Jr., Guntramsdorf, Austria) won half of her singles matches in 2011, going an overall 8-8 while posting a 4-3 record in SSC play.

The Sharks fell to the Mocs, 7-2 on March 19 at the NSU Tennis Complex earlier in the season. Lindsley and Lavallii clawed back from an early deficit in their doubles match to prevail, 8-5, in the No. 3 spot to earn the Sharks only point in doubles play. In singles, NSU was unable to rally back, winning only one singles match and falling to FSC.

Florida Southern is led by Agnese Rozite and Sabine Goge who are ranked 31st and 32nd respectively while being ranked 16th as a doubles team. In singles, Goge tallies 18 wins at No. 2 and Rozite has compiled 12 at No. 1 while the duo has won 13 doubles matches in the No. 1 spot.

As a team, NSU is 2-2 on a neutral court, playing all four neutral court matches during a dual match series in Orlando, Fla. on March 7-12. During that series, the Sharks defeated No. 36 Southern New Hampshire and Southern Indiana.
