FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. The Nova Southeastern women’s basketball team (11-6, 4-4 SSC) will take on the Barry Buccaneers (11-6, 6-2 SSC) for the second time this season Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Health and Sports Center in Miami Shores, Fla.

NSU enters Saturday’s contest with a .500 (4-4) conference record and will be looking to close the gap between itself and the top teams in the conference, including the Bucs who hold a 6-2 SSC mark. The Sharks suffered a tough loss at No. 10 Rollins Wednesday night despite another good shooting night from long range for Danielle Robinson (Fr., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.).

Robinson has tallied 14 made 3-pointers in the last three games for the Sharks. The local product from South Broward High School has hit 41 treys this season, placing her ninth in the Sharks record books just 17 games into her collegiate career. Robinson is on pace to tie the single-season record for triples made in a season with 63.

Robinson is not the only Shark with superior range, as Meixandra Porter (Jr., Chantilly, Va.) has hit 30 from beyond the arc the season. The duo is also efficient, as both currently rank in the top-5 in made 3-point percentage for a single season at NSU. Robinson is second with a 39.8 percentage, while Porter is fourth at 39 percent.

Barry comes into this weekend’s game on a two-game win streak, knocking off Eckerd and Saint Leo. The Bucs have suffered only two setbacks in conference play, falling on the road to Florida Southern and then No. 7 Rollins.

The Bucs have a pair of 10-point per game scorers in Danielle DeBerry (10.4) and Yvonne Houston (10.2). Defensively, Barry averages 4.8 blocked shots per game, best in the SSC. Alexandra Zamoria paces the Bucs with two rejections per game, while also securing a team-best 8.5 rebounds per contest.

In the first meeting between the schools back on Dec. 3, 2011, the Sharks recovered from a nine-point halftime deficit to tie the game in the final minute. After the Bucs kept NSU from scoring on its final possession, DeBerry hit a scooping layup to give Barry a 60-58 victory at the NSU Arena.

In a series that began Dec. 11, 1999, the Sharks and Bucs have played a total of 28 times with each winning 14 games. NSU has won seven of the last 10 meetings, dating back to a Jan. 30, 2008 matchup in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
