FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Coming off with two wins at home, the No. 24 Nova Southeastern University tennis team (2-0) will host Tampa on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. and Saint Leo on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. at the NSU Tennis Center.
Last time out, the Sharks defeated St. Thomas, 7-2, with four wins in singles action and swept the competition in doubles, outscoring the Bobcats, 24-6. Senior
Dominique Wimmer (Guntramsdorf, Austria) and No. 44
Alexandra Johansson (Sydney, Australia), recorded their first victory as a doubles team. In singles action, Johannson, playing in the No. 2 spot, double-bagled (6-0, 6-0) her opponent, Emilia Vuorela.
Tampa
NSU has a 10-1 all-time record against the Spartans, winning the match last season, 5-1. Tampa comes to Fort Lauderdale, after losing at home to No. 10 Florida Southern 1-8.
“We are looking forward to conference play,” said head coach
Michael Coleman. “So far, we are good, but the real test comes when we play conference matches.”
Saint Leo
The Sharks own a 10-0 all-time record against the Saint Leo Lions. In the last time out against Saint Leo the Sharks defeated SLU, 6-3, in Saint Leo, Fla. on Feb. 19, 2011.
The Lions, who are ranked eighth in the region, are coming off a win against Eckerd at home, outscoring them 9-0.
Coleman will stay with his traditional lineup against the Lions, which consists of Wimmer in the No. 1 spot, Johannson in the No. 2 spot, and
Daria Burobina (So., Moscow, Russia) in the No. 3 spot, with Wimmer and Johannson playing No. 1 doubles.
