FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern baseball team (3-0) continued its dominance over the Rams of Albany State (0-3) Saturday at the NSU Baseball Complex, outscoring them, 36-2 throughout the weekend sweep. The Sharks picked up their second and third win of thes season by a score of 13-1 and 11-1, respectively.
GAME ONE

Alex Marrero (Jr., Miami, Fla.), who batted 1-for-3 with two runs and three RBI, led the Sharks offensively. Vinnie Contaldi (Jr., Jupiter, Fla.) captured the win facing 11 batters, giving up two hits and striking out three in his two innings on the mound.
Two and a half innings expired before the Sharks made their mark on the board, scoring three runs in the bottom of the third. After a throwing error by the Rams' pitcher that lead to two runs,
Carlos Asuaje (So., Weston, Fla.) smacked a sacrafice fly RBI out to center to bring around
Nikko Echevarria (Sr., Abqaib, Saudi Arabia), who earlier advanced to third off the previous pitching error.
The bottom of the fifth brought more good fortune for the Sharks, scoring four more runs to extend their lead by seven. The inning started with a monster rip by Echevarria for a stand up triple to right center. Echevarria made his trip home off a RBI single by Asuaje through the gap. After a couple pitching changes and a handful of walks, the Sharks sent home three more runs to end the inning.
The Sharks held defensively for 14 consecutive innings, holding the Rams scoreless until the top of sixth when Theodore Tramontana of Albany State reached home, giving the Rams their first run of the weekend.
NSU responded loudly, notching four more runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a commanding 11-1 lead over the Rams. Pitching proved to be a sore spot for the Rams, walking a few batters which where knocked around by a huge RBI triple to the fence by Marrero. Marrero also rounded the bases from a RBI single by S. Woodrey.
The Sharks added two more runs in the bottom of the eighth in yet another pitching struggle by Albany State to wrap up the scoring.
Another Shark notable was
Nolan Houmes (Jr., Land O' Lakes, Fla.) who started the game on the mound strong, facing 19 at the plate while giving up four hits and also striking out six.
GAME TWO
Cody Stiles (Jr., Coral Springs, Fla.) had an impressive stand on the mound, striking out nine of the 19 batters he faced and allowing only one hit and one run through five innings of play. S. Woodrey, yet again, led the Sharks offensively, going 3-for-4 and recording two runs, four RBI and one bomb.
The Sharks got on the board first by Asuaje who crushed a three-bagger down the line and scored on the ensuing play to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead.
The bottom of the second brought more scoring for NSU, putting up three more on three hits. S. Woodrey did the brunt of the damage with a two RBI single up the gap to score two of the three for the Sharks.
Stiles remained stone solid on the mound, holding the Rams scoreless. Marrero rocked his first long bomb of the season over the left field wall to keep adding runs to the Sharks tally in the bottom of the third.
It wasn’t until the fifth that the Rams finally caught up with Stiles and put their first run on the board by way of a wild pitch.
The Sharks closed out the bottom of the sixth scoring five more runs to extend their lead to 12 over the Rams. Regoli got the Sharks going with a RBI double lined to the outfield. A sacrafice fly RBI to right field by Marrero and a crushed two-run homer by S. Woodrey, his first of the season, accounted for four of the Sharks five runs, the last came by way of a throwing error.
The Rams could not make any ground in the top of the seventh, as they were knocked down one, two, three by
Sean Tighe (Sr., Hobe Sound, Fla.), who closed out the game and the series-sweep for NSU, capturing their first three victories of the season in as many games.
