FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 26 Nova Southeastern tennis team (5-5, 3-1 SSC) will travel to St. Petersburg to play a conference dual against Eckerd (1-6, 0-4 SSC) on Saturday at 10 a.m. and then return home to the NSU Tennis Center to host the No. 11 California University of Pennsylvania Vulcans (4-1) on Sunday at 11 a.m.
This past week, the Sharks traveled to Orlando, Fla. and participated in the Spring Break Tournament. The first two days of the tournament, NSU competed against two NCAA Division-I programs. On day one, Radford upset NSU, 7-0. On the second day, the Sharks fell to Toledo, 7-2. On the final day of competition, NSU lost in a close match to No. 24 Grand Valley State, 5-4.
Eckerd
NSU has a 6-3 all-time record against the Tritons. Last time the two teams met, the Sharks shut out Eckerd, 9-0. The Tritons, currently ranked eighth in the conference, are coming off a 9-0 loss to Columbus State at home.
Doubles team Sabine Gorge/Magda Riutort are ranked No. 20 in the nation, and fifth in the region. In singles play, Gorge is ranked 12th in the region.
California University of Pennsylvania
The Sharks and Vulcans met for the first time last year. The Vulcans defeated NSU, 6-3, on March 5.
No. 11 CUP, is coming off a win against D-I Cincinnati on the road, outscoring the Bearcats 5-2. No. 10 Martina Rubesova is expected to play in the No. 1 spot, facing off against NSU’s
Alexandra Johansson (Fr., Sydney, Australia).
The Vulcans have two doubles teams ranked in the top-15, and three players ranked in the top-50 in singles play.
