FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 16 Nova Southeastern tennis team (2-3, 1-2 SSC) will take on Sunshine State Conference opponent Eckerd (0-3, 0-3 SSC) on Friday, Feb. 22 at the NSU Tennis Complex at 1 p.m.
The Sharks recently defeated the No. 13 Rollins Tars (2-2, 1-2 SSC) at home, 5-4, in their first conference win. To seal the victory, the Sharks took three doubles matches and two single matches. The Sharks only needed one win late in singles play and got it when
Sabrina Kierberg (Fr., Munich, Germany) defeated Elissa DeCampli in the top flight, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. It was Kierberg’s first match at the top of NSU’s singles lineup.
Last year, the NSU Sharks beat the Eckerd Tritons, 8-1, when they played them at the Turley Athletic Complex in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Alexandra Johansson (So., Sydney, Australia) and
Charlotte Cote (So., Montreal, Canada) both won their singles and doubles matches against the Tritons and are hoping to repeat history this year.
The Sharks look to claim their second conference win against Eckerd before they hit a four-match road trip that goes through March 7.
