FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. –The Nova Southeastern baseball team (6-5) has a chance at redemption Tuesday, Feb. 26 in a one-game tilt against the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish (9-4).
The Sharks fell to the Sailfish in their last game, Tuesday, Feb. 19, after a seven-run third inning by PBA, which gave the Sailfish the lead for good as they downed the Sharks, 9-4.
The Sharks started off well against PBA starter Jonathan Kies (2-1), scoring runs in each of the first two innings. The wheels came off though in the top of the third as the first six PBA batters reached and scored. The big hit of the inning, which came after
Patrick Kulick (0-1) was relieved, was a bases-loaded double by Brian Walker.
The Sharks got runs back in each of the fourth and sixth innings, cutting the game to 7-4. But PBA added two insurance runs in the seventh inning and claimed the final margin of victory at 9-4.
Jose Rodriguez (Sr., Hialeah, Fla.) led the Sharks with four hits on the night.
Carlos Asuaje (Jr., Weston, Fla.) had two hits in the loss.
On the mound,
Kenny Miranda (So., Loxhatchee, Fla.) and
Julian Loret de Mola (So., Miami) combined to end the night with two scoreless innings of relief. Loret de Mola’s ninth was a perfect 1-2-3.
The rematch is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start at the NSU Baseball Complex on the campus of Nova Southeastern.
