FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 21 Nova Southeastern tennis team (6-10, 2-5 SSC) will wrap up the regular season this weekend, as the Sharks face off against No. 8 Lynn (11-2, 2-1 SSC) Thursday at 2 p.m. and No. 23 Palm Beach Atlantic (14-5) Saturday at 10 a.m. Both games will be played at the NSU Tennis Complex.
The Sharks will be looking to finish the year strong, with two tough nationally-ranked opponents on the docket. The Sharks have had their bumps along the way, but have a chance to build momentum going into tournament time. The Sunshine State Conference awards its championship, and automatic postseason bid, to the winner of the conference tournament, which begins April 18.
With the way the league is structured, the Sharks are still primed to make a late season run at a championship, regardless of the team’s record. Although NSU enters the weekend on a losing skid, they had an impressive showing in their last match. This past weekend, the Sharks traveled to No. 7 Saint Leo and nearly pulled off the upset, falling 5-4. Previous to that match, Saint Leo had only lost to top-five ranked opponents.
The Sharks will host two teams with impressive records. However, both teams have had their recent struggles with weather and have had matches canceled or postponed. The Sharks will have a chance to pounce on two teams that may be brushing the rust off.
