Sharks perform well in three events.

PUEBLO, Colo.
- The Nova Southeastern track and field team ended its time at the 2013 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships Thursday and capped off a benchmark season.

"We did an excellent job this year," said head coach Bryan Hagopian. "I am so proud of the five athletes who made it to the NCAA championships and how hard they worked to get to this meet. We had to overcome the obstacle of being 20 feet above sea level and the change in altitude and were able to still perform at a high level. As a team, we learned a lot from this experience and will know how to best prepare if we are faced with this issue next year."

The women’s 400-meter relay team of Jessica Osteen (Sr., Las Vegas, Nev.), Johniqua Stafford (Sr., Fort Worth, Texas), Nicole Poole (Fr., Atlamonte Springs, Fla.) and Ciona Williams (Fr., Stockton, Ca.) placed 15th with a time of 47.10.

Osteen was the only female to compete in an individual event, as she ran in the 400-meter hurdles event. She came in 20th with a time of 1:06.50.

Talyn Washington (So., Royal Palm Beach, Fla.) was the only male to compete at the NCAA championships, where he competed in the 400-meter dash. Washington's time of 47.73 landed him in 18th place.

"I am so proud of both of our seniors Jessica and Johniqua," said Hagopian. "They both had outstanding seasons and we are going to miss them so much next year."

This will conclude the 2012-13 outdoor track and field season for the Sharks.
