Tennis set for Back-to-Back Home SSC Matches

Sharks to face Barry and Tampa at home.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 21 Nova Southeastern tennis team is set to face two Sunshine State Conference opponents at home, with the Sharks facing No. 22 Tampa on Saturday at 11 a.m. and No. 3 Barry on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

NSU enters the weekend at 1-2 after two tough losses to NCAA Division I Bethune Cookman, 6-3, and No. 8 Saint Leo, 7-2. Although the team was not able to secure an overall win last weekend, NSU had individual success. Sabrina Kierberg (So., Berlin, Germany) won her No. 2 singles draw matches against both opponents and is now 3-0 on the season.

Tampa will enter Saturday's match looking for revenge after NSU ended their season in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament last season in a 5-4 match. Kierberg, Bianca Roberts (Jr., Tampa, Fla.) and Iryna Serdyuk (So., Boca Raton, Fla.) all earned wins in the match.

Barry is expected to give NSU their toughest challenge to date. The Buccaneers are a national powerhouse every year and are expected to compete for a national title once again. NSU lost to Barry twice last season, once in the regular season, 8-1, and in the SSC Tournament, 5-0.
