Tennis to Face Northwood and Eckerd this Week

Sharks meet Seahawks Wednesday, Tritons Friday

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. The Nova Southeastern tennis team (2-3) will host the Northwood Seahawks (5-0) Wednesday at 3 p.m. before traveling to face the Eckerd Tritons (0-4) on Friday at 2 p.m.

NSU will host one of NAIA's hottest teams this season. The Seahawks are undefeated and have individually swept in four out of five matches, including a 9-0 defeat of Eckerd. They are currently ranked eighth in the nation among NAIA programs. The Tritons have not been as successful. They have lost all four matches this season and have yet to pick up a point.

NSU was expecting to have a match this weekend against No. 9 Rollins, but when the Sharks arrived in Winter Park, Fla. the match was forced to be postponed due to inclement weather. NSU is fresh off a competitive loss to No. 3 Barry and wins over No. 16 Florida Tech and No. 22 Tampa. The solid start allowed NSU to move to seventh in the latest ITA regional poll, ahead of FIT and Valdosta State.

NSU is not expected to shake up its lineup this week, meaning fans can expect Alexandra Johansson (Jr., Sydney, Australia), the nation's 37th ranked player, to play up in the top singles draw. She is fresh off defeating Tampa's Wladimirski, the 39th ranked player in the country. Sabrina Kierberg (Berlin, Germany) will put her undefeated 5-0 record on the line in the second flight.
