RESULTS
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The No. 15 Nova Southeastern tennis team (4-3, 3-2 SSC) swept a conference foe, the Eckerd Tritons (0-6, 0-4 SSC), 9-0, Friday in the team's first road match.
NSU began the day by sweeping doubles play with relative ease.
Sabrina Kierberg (So., Berlin, Germany) and
Alex Kaeser (Fr., Woodstock, Ga.) followed up on their first win as a doubles team against Northwood by bageling Eckerd's Gipson Hawn and Carson Trapp, 8-0. In the second flight,
Alexandra Johansson (Jr., Sydney, Australia) and
Charlotte Cote (Jr., Montreal, Canada) took down Emily and Erika Fridrick, 8-2. Finally,
Linda Kornienko (So., Fort Myers, Fla.) and
Juliet Serabian (So., Plantation, Fla.) won a third-draw match over Katie Benn and Amy Naula, 8-2.
NSU completed the sweep in doubles and did not drop a set. At the top draw, Johansson defeated Eckerd's Hawn, 6-1, 6-0. Kierberg extended her undefeated streak to seven wins by defeating Trapp in the second draw, 6-0, 6-4. In the third flight,
Carlee Rizzolo (So., Livingston, N.J.) earned the victory over Erika Fridrick, 6-1, 6-1.
Serabian earned the team's most impressive score in the fourth draw, with a two-set shutout of Emily Fridrick, 6-0, 6-0. In the final two draws,
Bianca Roberts (So., Tampa, Fla.) and
Iryna Serdyuk (So., Boca Raton, Fla.) both stepped up and won for the second-straight match. Roberts defeated Benn, 6-2, 6-3, while Serdyuk took down Naula, 6-3, 6-3.
NSU will look to carry its winning streak into a neutral site match against preseason nationally-ranked Grand Valley State in Orlando, Fla. on March 4 at 9 a.m.
